Most of its being caused by the winds and limbs being blown on the power lines, Higginbottom said.
He said high wind gusts have limited crews in their efforts to restore power.
We cant put our workers up in the bucket trucks when the winds are between 30 and 40 miles per hour. Its just not safe. Our focus is going to safety, he said.
Higginbottom said about 1,300 contract workers from neighboring northern states are helping to restore power in the Pine Belt.
The company is advising the general public to stay away from downed power lines
