Bosch breaks ground on auto belt factory
(06-09-2008)
DONG NAI The German-headquartered Bosch group marked its first investment in Viet Nam with a ground-breaking ceremony at Long Thanh Industrial Park in Dong Nai Province, where its new hi-tech production facility for automotive push-belts is located.
Covering 160,000sq.m, the facility will manufacture push-belts for Continuous Variable Transmissions (CVT) which can be installed in vehicles ranging from sub-compact cars to sports utility vehicles with diesel, gasoline or hybrid engines.
We believe this investment will deepen our roots and strengthen our operations in Viet Nam, said Cem Peksaglam, president and managing director of Robert Bosch Pte Ltd. Viet Nam will become Boschs global manufacturing network in the region
BA Holdings Limited, which is taking tough measures to stay afloat, will only allow its two vessels to sail when they're fully loaded and not at scheduled times.
The company's new operations manager, Meli Bogileka, said there would also be a 15 per cent increase in the rates and fares on the MV Cagi mai Ba and MV Bawaqa if the price of fuel continues to increase.
Mindful of the inconvenience the decisions would cause customers and passengers, Mr Bogileka said the company had to do business.
'We have restructured our boat schedule, they are not going to sail on scheduled times,' he said.
'We will get it fully loaded to full capacity in passengers and cargo and then sail.'
Mr Bogileka said at times there would be delays but because of the high fuel cost it was important to have the numbers and figures right before sailing.
'We can set to sail and meet up our break even point,' he said
